Thanks Julie! Explanation of the Image...

This site has recently been refreshed by the tremendously talented Julie Neidlinger... if you aren't already familiar with her artistic (and literary) achievements, and are curious, travel to the bottom of the page and click on her website/blogspot and be prepared for a real treat!

About the image at the top:
I am Mom to two rough and tumble boys who think my garden is, sigh, 'DUMB', and that is on a good day. On bad days, well, the things they mutter when I say, 'Let's go garden' are even worse. They dislike the endless amounts of weeding, planting, digging holes, dividing things with the potato fork, trimming, watering, picking and deadheading that go along with a Mom who gardens in excess...

I consider the garden chores 'going outside to play'. We live next door to the baseball field, where they'd much rather be 'outside playing', all of which I conveyed to Julie, who then did a wonderful job of taking that idea of a 'in love with the garden Mom' meets 'we'd rather play baseball' boys and running with it.

Thanks for the fun new digs!!!!!!!!!!!

And, about those boys, even though they protest, when my oldest noticed the 'first Robin of the season' a few weeks ago, it made news at dinnertime. And my youngest spent hours the other evening collecting ladybugs while we unearthed the daylilies from last year's growth.

Even if they don't profess to love the garden, they appreciate Robins and ladybugs, proof that I planted more seeds than I thought in our backyard.

Julie is so creative at so many levels. Your site is darling!

I hope you're going to let me pester you with gardening questions this year. It's only second year trying it, and I've only lived in SoDak for 14 months.

Yes, Julie is creative on many levels and I am a huge fan of her creations!

Pester away with your garden questions... but, please realize I am not an 'expert'... I just gladly share what I (think) I know. HA!
